She was born April 13, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wis. to George and Betty (Bencz) O’Neil McGinness. Barbara lived her life giving care and service to others. She worked at the YCAP Agency in McMinnville, Ore. She later moved with her husband and daughter to Kauai, Hawaii, where she labored as the Director of Transportation and also co-owned a dress shop that carried the beautiful dresses she sewed. She moved back to McMinnville, Ore. and worked at the Health Department there for 12 years. In 2009 she and her husband moved to Lake Havasu City to be near their daughters. Barbara had many talents and used her creativity to bead jewelry that her husband sold each Sunday from their booth at the Swap Meet. Her other talents consisted of fishing, knitting, gardening, baking and canning. Her greatest love was serving her family and sharing her love and talents with them. She was a wonderful person and friend to all who knew her. Her loss will be greatly felt, but we take great solace knowing she is now in the realm of heaven with her Maker and loved ones who preceded her. Barbara is survived by her husband and best friend of 37 years, Norm Schmidt; children, Laurie (Kurtis) Hilliker and Jennifer Oddsen; grandchildren, Stephen McGinness, Jeffrey Hilliker and Elizabeth Peirce; brother, George (Michelle) McGinness.
