STOWERS, Jon Rivers


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/14/2014 Jon Rivers Stowers, 72, passed to his heavenly home Monday, Feb. 3, 2014. He was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Flint, Mich., on his mother’s birthday. His father was John Denton Stowers of Tennessee and mother Fern Lavida Glassbrook Stowers of Michigan. Jon was a good, decent, honest hardworking man who valued his family as his greatest treasure. Gone on to welcome him home were his older brother, Denton Ray Stowers, nephew Daniel James Anderson, beloved aunt Carrie Alta Young, father John, mother Fern, father of his granddaughter Anna, Juan Zepeda, and uncle Johnny Davis. His father-in-law Lloyd Duane Harper Sr. went to join Jon Feb. 7. Left behind to comfort one another are his wife, Karen D’Ann Harper Stowers, his cherished children: Laura Lee Stowers Duarte and her partner Marcus Fuller, John Stowers II (Connie), Alger Lane Stowers (Shelley), Michael Scott Stowers (Marisa); mother of his children Linda Lee Gocha Stowers; grandchildren: Anna Marie Zepeda (Jeff Otwell), Daniel Lee (Melinda Duarte), Angela Lee Duarte, Dylan Rivers Stowers, Claire Ellen Stowers, Denton Alger Stowers, Cayla Rae Stowers, Nicolas Daniel Stowers and Nina Marie Stowers; great-grandchildren: Robert John Miller, Matthew Bruce Mann, Rahnae Starr, Jaylah Marie Adams-Zepeda, Angel Samuel Heddrick, Matthew Adam Neider and Maelyn Suzanne Neider; sister Mary Lou (James Woodyard), brother Don Roland (Mary Stowers), sister Margie Jo (Ted Tessner); his (cousin) aunt Claa Mae Davis; six nephews and two nieces and their families and many cousins; also Jake and Joyce Jacobs, the Lois Mosley family, the Merlin and JoEllen Dudley family, the Bernard Harper family, Kelly Harper and sons Ethan and Sam, Kori Peters and son Braden, Hermalinda Medina and family; Harvey Anderson, Donald Hammond, Lisa Roether, Mitch Metcalfe, Dawn Johnston, Matt and Mary Cacagno, Eulojio and Alice Aguilar, Max Nelson and Carol Judd, Walter and Jennie Craig, Lorie Peyton, the Wehner families, Carol Bradley and Hunter Garcia, and the Bentley High School Class of ‘60, Burton, Mich.; countless friends in Flint, Mich., Mesa, Payson and Vernon. “Many thanks to the kind-hearted folks at Black’s Show Low Mortuary, Show Low Ambulance, Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center, the firemen who answered our call and all who showed their love and support in any way to Jon’s family.
