GRIFFITH, Timothy Lynn (Tim)

Vining Funeral Home, Safford, Arizona Timothy Lynn Griffith February 24, 1945 - February 11, 2014 Timothy Lynn Griffith, age 68, of Pima, entered into rest Tuesday evening, February 11, 2014, at the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center after a long illness. Timothy Lynn was born on February 24, 1945, in Bisbee, Arizona to Tim Jim Griffith and Bina Ada Pursley. Timothy spent a good portion of his life in Douglas, Arizona, where his father worked for Phelps Dodge in Bisbee. Tim went to school in Douglas and later moved to Australia when his father moved the family. While there, he worked several jobs before going to work on a lobster boat, as a deck hand, to finance his way back to Arizona. Upon his return, he went to work for Southern Pacific Railroad as a welder which became his lifelong occupation. He retired out of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers after an accident left him unable to work. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and as a hobby made and collected knives. Tim was preceded in death by: his father, Tim Jim Griffith. Tim is survived by: his wife, Terrie Oliver Griffith of Pima, Arizona; his mother, Bina Pursley Griffith; his older sister, Lorraine Griffith Mazzei of Marana, Arizona; his younger brother, William Stanley Griffith (Kay) of Pima, Arizona; his daughter, Tonya Griffith Diaz (Ben) of Safford, Arizona; his son, Timothy William Griffith of Safford, Arizona; his daughter, Amber Griffith Hale (Chris) of Pima; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Timothy's Life will be conducted Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at the Vining Funeral Home's "Chapel of the Valley," by Pastor Dustin Willey. Family and friends are invited to attend a potluck luncheon following the services at the Sunshine Valley Apartments, located at 1901 S. 20th Ave., across from the Vining Funeral Home.
