Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona, Friday, February 14, 2014 GILBERT ARTHUR SNELL, 86, died February 9, 2014, at Scottsdale, Ariz. Born September 28, 1927, near Spooner, Wis., he was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Army and the Coast Guard. He spent his working life as a heavy-equipment mechanic and truck driver. For many years, he owned his own trucking company, hauling rock and earth for large civic projects such as I-40 and others throughout the Southwest. For most of his adult life he lived in Scottsdale and, for the past 20 years, in Flagstaff. His favorite avocations were hunting, fishing, and card playing. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Evelyn (Crouch); his sister Irene (Witt) Orton; five children: Joyce Pence, Darnell Koons, Karen Mills, Michael (Mickey), and Frank; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
