The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Wednesday, February 19, 2014 Carol L. Reti, 74, daughter of Sarkis and Grace Karakaian, originally from Tenafly, N.J., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her husband Joseph Reti; her children Edward Powney Jr. of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Janet Powney, David Powney and Grace Powney of Phoenix, Ariz., Chace Reti of Bakersfield, Calif., and Chance Reti of Las Vegas, Nev., as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout the United States. Carol graduated from Tenafly High School in 1958 and entered nursing school. During her working life, she gave compassionate and loving care to all the patients that she looked after. In the late 1970s, she worked with several restaurants throughout the Ventura County area in California supplying free food to animal shelters. In 1981, she met husband Joseph Reti and they were married shortly thereafter. In 1993, Carol and husband Joseph moved to Prescott, where she involved herself in several social functions, including the St. Vincent de Paul Society and The Red Hat Society of Prescott. She was very involved with helping and feeding the poor, and she along with her husband Joseph worked with Meals on Wheels for several years as well. Carol was a bright ray of sunshine in this world. She brought warmth and love to those she touched and the world was a better place for her being here. She loved dancing, laughing, loving, caring for animals, knitting, reading books, being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and singing with her beautiful voice. She was a lady of great compassion, and she will be missed by many. Services will be private. Please make donations to the animal shelter of your choice. Information provided by survivors.
