Emma Bell (Aiton) Guest, 91, peacefully transferred her residence to Heaven on Feb. 14, 2014. She was born in Phoenix on Dec. 15, 1922, to Sam and Jewell Aiton (Burgess).
She married Wilmer "Boots" Guest on May 24, 1940, and is survived by three children, Marilyn Mount of Flagstaff, Ariz., Marlene (Marla) (Lorrie) Smith of Prescott, Ariz., Wendell Guest (Barbara) of Chino Valley, Ariz.; brother Sam Aiton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emma's early days and favorite memories include herding goats in the foothills around Dewey, Badger Springs, and Cordes; attending the one-room schoolhouse on Yarber Wash at Cherry, and later the red brick schoolhouse at Mayer.
She recollected her family, feeding many people at the home ranch during the Depression - there always seemed to be plenty of goat meat and pinto beans to share. She also recalled riding with her mom over to Jerome to sell goat meat to the miners' wives out of the trunk of their old Star touring car.
Emma was a 4-H youth leader and involved with the junior rodeo association for many years in Yavapai County. She was an excellent seamstress, and loved quilting, camping and gardening.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the Hampton Funeral Home, 240 S. Cortez St. Prescott.
