CORNMAN, Lyle L.


Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on February 21, 2014 - Lyle L. Cornman of East Tawas, formerly of Kingman, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw at age 83. Lyle was born on Feb. 8, 1931, in Big Creek, Oscoda County, Michigan, to Harold and Clara (Hughes) Cornman. After high school, Lyle enlisted in the United States Army. He moved to Kingman in 1967 and worked at Dunton Motors and at Rucker Motors for seven years as a service manager. Then he was a NTD tool distributor for a few years. He was also a member of the Air Search and Rescue team and enjoyed flying. He owned and operated Mr. C's Auto Machine Shop and Carwash in Kingman until he retired in 1994. Lyle was blessed with a brilliant mind and could build almost anything he set out to do. He loved to work with metal and often wood, constructing and creating all sorts of things. Lyle also enjoyed many years as a beekeeper. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Lyle is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Cornman of East Tawas; seven children, Wayne (Colleen) Cornman of Burt; Roger (Linda) Cornman of Nevada; Robert (Susie) Cornman of Arizona; Douglas Cornman of Arizona; Harold (Delta) Cornman of West Branch; Dean (Jeannie) Cornman of Arizona; and Lyle G. "Squeak" (Mary) Cornman of Arizona; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Clara (Hughes) Cornman; one brother, Walter Cornman; one sister, Arlene Mason; second wife, Mina Beck; third wife, Mattie; and one grandchild. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the VFW, 3036 John L Ave. in Kingman. His family will welcome friends from 1-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider the Tawas St. Joseph Hospital Emergency Room Department in his honor.
