Eileen Elizabeth McQuade
On the evening of January 25, 2014 Eileen passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah while undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer after a brief and courageous battle; Eileen lived her life fearlessly; one of her dearest friends, Beth Peacock was at her side. Eileen was 58 years old.
Eileen was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on May 29, 1955. She was the third child of Kenneth and Bernice McQuade.
Eileen loved living life to the fullest and showed everyone her beautiful soul and kind spirit. Eileen was a “true people person” and exuded unconditional love. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking, skiing, golf and mountain biking. Eileen surrounded herself with animals her entire life; her cat, Louie 17 years; dogs Lucky 14 years and Kenji 10 years; and her horses. She loved to travel and enjoyed sailing to many exotic destinations with her husband, Mark Castle and friends Jim & Sheila Sherry.
Eileen was a dental hygienist for over 37 years after graduating from Ferris State University Big Rapids, Michigan in 1976. She was very active in the Arizona State Dental Hygiene Association being a past president and she was involved in many fund raising and volunteering efforts. Eileen’s passion was early detection of oral cancer and she was invited to speak to many professional groups on the importance of early detection of oral cancer. She produced and developed a learning DVD and a “Quick Guide” to help fellow professionals make absolutely certain they were living up to their potential to help their patients.
One comment followed Eileen throughout her life. “When Eileen would walk into a room, she would light up the room with her smile.” She was a true people person and was always helping others achieve their highest potential. Eileen loved her “G-G” friends, “Tini” sisters and Ya Ya sisters. She had a very close bond with her oldest sister, Kathy and her older brother, Ken (Butch).
Eileen taught dental hygiene at Northern Arizona’s Dental Hygiene Department for over six years and was loved by her students, patients, and faculty. She recently started “Aspen Dental Assisting School” in Flagstaff, Arizona overseeing three classes graduate. This endeavor was one of her proudest achievements.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth J McQuade and Bernice McQuade; In laws: James E Castle and Mary Lois Castle.
Eileen is survived by: her husband, soul mate, lover and best friend of 34 years, Dr. Mark Castle, Flagstaff, Az. Sister: Kathy Joannides, (John), Highland, Mi. Brother: Ken McQuade Jr., (Nancy), Hartland, Mi. Nieces: Christine(Bob) Schwartz(Aaron, Sarah), Bloomfield, Mi. Maureen Gandol (Dan)(Kaitlyn), Portland, Ore. Jessie Kasoff (Jon)(Mason,Tiffany)Troy, Mi. Nephews: Mike DiCapo(Chantel)(Riley,Christian) Phoenix, Az.; Brian McQuade(Jen)(Emily, Connor) Hartland, Mi.

A celebration of life will be held for Eileen on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Arizona Snowbowl, Harts Prairie Lodge beginning at Noon. A second celebration of life will be held in Milford, Michigan on Saturday July 12, 2014 for friends & family that can’t make the Flagstaff celebration.
A memorial mass for Eileen is being celebrated on February 28, 2014 at 11:30 AM at the Vatican in Rome, Italy. Beautiful.
