MALLORY, Alton Worth

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Thursday, March 06, 2014 Alton Worth Mallory, beloved husband of May Mallory, passed away March 4, 2014. Worth was born in Allegan County, Mich., Dec. 27, 1919. He attended Otsego High, where he was given the American Legion Award for "Scholarship and Citizenship." He earned degrees from Eastern University of Michigan and Wayne State in Michigan. His career included teaching, selling the World Book, especially Child Craft, and being a high school principal. At the age of 67, he moved to Prescott, Ariz., having flown his plane to several possible places to retire. Prescott was his choice and he was never sorry. He later sold his plane and began his retirement years, starting with playing bridge. To improve his game he went to lessons at the Adult Center taught by May Mallory, whom he later married. After many vacation trips, he began to spend time making contributions of time, talent and money to various causes, primarily to early childhood endeavors, always his passion. Tennyson's lines form an appropriate goodbye from Worth. Sunset and evening star, and one clear call for me let there be no mourning at the bar when I put out to sea. Per his request, there will be no memorial service, and his body is to be donated to science. Please, no phone calls. Information provided by survivors.
