The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, Arizona Tuesday, March 04, 2014 Thomas Eugene Michael, 77 of Gilbert, AZ passed away of natural causes on Wednesday February 26th 2014. Tom was born on 11/7/1936 in Cottonwood, AZ to Chester and Getha Michael. Tom had 2 siblings, Barbara and Robert. Tom was a member of an Arizona Pioneer family rooted in the Verde Valley. Tom was a graduate of ASU and a veteran of the USAF. In 1957 Tom married Linda Kay Thompson. They had 5 children. He was a personnel director for Maricopa County, City of Los Alamos and retired from the State of Arizona. Tom was an enthusiastic traveler, doting grandfather, who made friends feel like family & family like friends. Tom was an avid gardener & especially enjoyed his roses. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Getha, his sister Barbara, his wife Linda and his 2nd wife Madonna. Tom is survived by his brother Bob and brother-n-law George, 5 children Tim, Ted, Karen, Tracy, and Todd, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Tom was a kind man and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Valley. Services will be held at Queen of Heaven Mortuary, 1562 E Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ Visitation: Wednesday March 5th from 5pm-8pm Service: Thursday March 6th from 10am-12pm Reception to follow.
