Jose Rafael Anzures
Joe R. Anzures, Aug. 27, 1926 - Feb. 22, 2014, better known as "Shorty," was born on August 27, 1926 in Williams, Arizona. He lived in Williams until he moved with his wife, Juanita, to Cottonwood, Arizona in 1983.
Joe, "Shorty," was a special and unique human being. He was kind and compassionate, always extending a helping hand where needed. Everyday was a sunny day for him. He had a million dollar smile and a twinkle in his eye that captured your heart and filled your day with sunshine and laughter. He made a difference in other people's lives by acknowledging anyone that crossed his path.
He worked in the food industry all his life as a cook. He enjoyed his career and there was not a day that he did not have fun at work. He knew how to treat customers in a manner that made them feel they were the most important customer in the house.
He was a hard-working man and instilled that value in his children and those that he worked with. His desire to help anyone in need will forever be the most important part of his legacy left behind for family and friends alike.
Joe, Shorty, is survived by his wife, Juanita, of 49 years, his three daughters, Virginia Anzures Rascon, Rita Anzures Williamson and Cindy Houghton McKinnis; three sons, Joe Anzures Jr., Cleveland Anzures and Benny Houghton; 25 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; two sisters, Delfina Anzures Hicks and Ida Wallace Andrews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Prudencia Marquez Anzures, his father Cornelio Anzures, his daughter Mary Anzures Mitchell and his son James Cleve Houghton.
On Saturday, March 8, 2014, a reception will be held at the Hacienda Inn Banquet Room, 1330 US Hwy 89 A Cottonwood, Arizona, from 1-4 p.m. to celebrate "Shorty's" life.
