SHOCKLEY, Thomas Frederick (Tom)


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Thursday, March 13, 2014 - Thomas Frederick Shockley, 93, passed away in Billings, Mont., March 5, 2014. Tom is survived by his wife Delfina Lidia Shockley; daughters, Terry Pollert and Shelly Martin and grandson, Kyle Martin all of Billings, Mont. His daughter, Sandra Shockley, preceded him in death. Tom was born in Englewood, Colo., Feb. 4, 1921, to Thomas H. Shockley, a former boxer, and his wife Emma. He attended school in Englewood and graduated from Englewood High School. Tom enlisted in the Army Air Corp during the Second World War. Tom was a Bombardier on a B-17 aircraft and made 52 missions over Germany. After he was discharged from the Army, he built a Dude Ranch in Rifle, Colo. He and his first wife ran it for many years. While ranching, he attended and graduated from Denver University with Engineering and Business degrees. Tom was very health conscience; he exercised, weighed himself every day and drank cider vinegar; (hence his longevity.) Tom and his wife lived in Oahu, Hawaii and in Arizona for half of the year and the other half on his 1600 acre ranch near Four Corners, Wyo. There he enjoyed collecting old cars, riding horses and being with his friends. Tom's ashes will be scattered on his beloved ranch in the spring/early summer.
