Derek Arnold Tingey passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2014.
Derek was born May 22, 1967, in Flagstaff, Ariz., to Neville Earl and Florence LaRae McAllister Tingey.
Derek grew up primarily in Flagstaff and later moved to Kingman, Phoenix, and Paulden, Ariz. Derek met Jeri Deaube, and together they had one child, Hunter, who is now 14 years old. Derek was employed as a machinist at Sturm Ruger in Prescott, Ariz.
Derek was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and being around a campfire with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his son, Hunter, whom he loved with all his heart. Derek loved to work on his trucks and keep them finely tuned. Derek was fun to be around, as one just never knew what ideas or thoughts were going to come up next. He loved his family immensely, was always supportive, and the first to lend a hand.
Derek's loving spirit and "can do" attitude will live on with his family forever. Derek was a devoted father, a wonderful brother, and a very good friend.
Derek is survived by his son Hunter Tingey, of Paulden; two sisters and five brothers: Valerie Smith, Orem, Utah; VirLynn Tinnell, Kingman; Brad Tingey, Phoenix; Troy Tingey, Clinton, Utah; LaVal Tingey, Phoenix; Scott Tingey, Kingman; and Cory Tingey, Norwood, Mo. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. today, March 15, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 441 W. Perkinsville Road, Chino Valley, Ariz.
