Lora Mae Holder, 91, of Globe, Ariz. passed away on March 5. She was born on July 4, 1922 which made the annual July 4th celebrations special for her and the extended family her whole life.
Lora was raised in Young, Ariz. to an Arizona pioneer family. She was married to Frank Haught, father of Mick, for only two years when he died young. She was a wife for 66 years to Kendrick Holder.
She was a loving mother to three children, Mick Holder of Globe, Marilyn Stanberry of Buckeye and Sharon Sandell of Tempe. She was loved by 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Kendrick and Lora purchased the Flying H Ranch on Cherry Creek and other ranches later. She was a rancher/cowgirl, a war-time riveter, hard worker and a strong lady. She painted beautiful water colors that adorn the families’ homes.
Lora and Kendrick traveled the world. Lora spent many hours on her gardens, orchards and flowers. Late in life she became an avid Diamondbacks and Suns fan.
She had a wonderful life and was an inspiration to all. If desired, donations may be made in her name to The Gila County Cowbelles, c/o Velma Tucker, 1161 N. Stagecoach Dr., Roosevelt, Ariz. Services will be held Sunday, March 23, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Globe Elks with interment at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens.
