OSTERMAN III, John (Sparky)


Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on March 19, 2014 - John "Sparky" Osterman III, 60, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at his home in Kingman. Sparky was born on September 19, 1953, in Kingman, the first child of John and Ann (Bell) Osterman. He graduated from Kingman High School in 1971. Sparky married Raycene Rosencrans on Oct. 7, 1978, in Kingman. They were happily married for 36 years. After graduating from high school, Sparky held a number of positions in public safety and worked in security at the Golden Nugget in Laughlin, Nevada. He was the president of the K-Top Daycare Centers, which he owned and operated with his wife. A life-long resident of Kingman, Sparky was a member of the Kingman Elks Lodge for nearly 40 years. During his years of service he held many lodge offices, including Exalted Ruler (1980-1981) and Five Year Trustee. As a member of Kingman Masonic Lodge 22, Sparky was raised to the 32nd degree of Scottish Rite Mason. He served for more than 30 years in the Kingman Volunteer Fire Department, retiring with the rank of captain. Sparky enjoyed elk hunting, large-mouth bass fishing and, most of all, spending time with his large extended family. Sparky was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ann Osterman. He is survived by his father, John Osterman Jr. of Kingman; his wife, Raycene; his sons, John Oscar "Joe" (Melissa) of Kingman and Sean (Kendra) of Kingman; his brothers, Chuck (Carol) of Kingman and Carl (Marie) of South Jordan, Utah; his beloved grandchildren, Sean, Olivia, Matthew and Ryan; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, in the Lee Williams High School auditorium, 400 Grandview Ave. A graveside ceremony and interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Sutton Memorial Funeral Home in Kingman. Condolences may be left at the online guest book at www.suttonmemorialfuneralhome.com.
