The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 03/21/2014 Gerald Wayne Hickman, 64, died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his home in Concho. He was born April 23, 1949, in French Camp, Calif., the son of Wilburn Walter and Gladys Lorene Avants Hickman. Wayne was a carpenter for 45 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was “Papa” to them. He was a great provider, avid sportsman and a generous helper to all. He loved getting together with his family and friends and listening to his children sing something that filled his heart with emotion, brought tears to his eyes and a smile on his face. His heart was full of love and kindness. He would give the shirt off his back. He loved to play Bingo, which was a fun pastime for him. Wayne was a lucky man and he always shared the wealth. Wayne is survived by his sons: Brian (Angie) of Peoria; Michael of Surprise; daughters: Victoria Lynn (Tim) of Surprise; Tammy (Greg) of El Mirage; brother Dale (Jean) of Oregon; sister Dee (Wayne) of Texas; 11 grandchildren: Ashley, Jordon, Kelsey (Nick), Brittnee (Jordan), Shelbii (Fernando), Dannum (Sam), Rin, Kierra, Ciara, Devin, Alexander; and six great-grandchildren: Andreau, Kameron, Landan, Racelyn, Jamey, Nikkole. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at 3169 Cimarron Lane in Lakeside, hosted by Sandy, Cookie and Judy. He was preceded in death by his parents.
