VAUGHN, Alfred Louis (Al)


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - Alfred Louis (AL) Vaughn, born March 13, 1930 in Tulsa Okla., passed away March 17, 2014 in York, Maine. He is survived by his wife, Carla; son, Steven and daughter-in-law Stephanie; grandchildren, Steven Vaughn II, Stacia Vaughn -Danford, husband James Danford and many nieces and nephews. Al skated professionally with Sonja Henie Ice Capades and served in the Army and Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and earned two Bronze Stars. In civilian life he perused his passion for flying and worked his way up from a mechanic to a flight engineer on several aircraft including the L10-11. He was a pioneer resident of Lake Havasu City; in 1964 and was the city's first airport manager and fire chief. Everyone that met him instantly became his friend and loved him, Al enjoyed life to the fullest and knew how to make people laugh. He was also a former resident of Springfield, VT. He loved his family so much and was a kind and gentle man. The 84 yrs he was with us was too short but we were so blessed to have known and loved him.
