He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities including ward clerk, bishop of the Eagar 1st Ward, Stake high councilman and Stake patriarch. When asked what he felt was the most important calling he had, he would quickly reply “teacher.”

He is survived by his children: Dennis, D’Wayne, Tonna Martin, Tina Jarvis, Charlie, Kathleen Davis and Richard, 31 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren and many others that he considered to be a part of his family. He frequently reminded them all, “I am still the president.” He is also survived by his brothers: Willis, Stephen, Norval, John and Ray; and sisters Mina Eagar and Anita Gwen Nelson.
He will forever be remembered as a friend to all.
