The 66-year life journey of Rosario R. Torres, which began in Los Mochis (Ejido 35) Sinaloa, Mexico, on Saturday, Feb. 7, 1948, came to a peaceful conclusion Saturday (March 29) in Sun City, Ariz., after a long but brave battle with cancer.
By his side was his wife Delia and family. Together, Rosario and Delia raised a family of eight children that eventually grew to include 12 grandchildren.
The only thing Rosario loved as much as his family and friends was nature. An avid outdoorsman and hunter, Rosario felt most at home out in nature, which is why he chose to live the last 41 years of his life surrounded by the beauty of the Arizona desert, working in the agriculture field in the towns of Yuma, Wenden, Salome, Wickenburg, Congress and vicinity.
Rosario came to the United States in 1973 in search of a better life, making the tough decision and crossing the border.
Full of dreams and enthusiasm, he gathered countless tales and anecdotes that filled his life along the way. Always eager to share them, he always found a way to be the center of attention, with his family and friends more than willing to oblige with a grin on their face and an attentive ear.
An honest and proud man, Rosario taught his daughters the importance of family, friends and the need for humility, hard work and service to others while wasting no time to stop to enjoy great food, friends, the beauty of life and the magic of music.
In addition to his wife, Delia Torres, Rosario is survived by his daughters Dulce Torres-Jimenez (Juan Carlos) of Wickenburg, Yucari Torres-Espinoza (Ernesto) of Wickenburg, Kasandra Torres of Wickenburg, Rafaela Torres Rios de Montenegro (Mario) of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Cecilia Torres Rios of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, and Fermina Torres Rios de Trasvina (Jacinto) of San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora; his siblings Natividad Torres, Rigoberto Torres, Roman Torres, Julian Torres and Guillermo Torres -- all of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his daughters Lucia Torres and Cenovia Torres of Los Mochis, Sinaloa.
Rosario -- an honorable man, brother, uncle, father and husband -- was laid to rest with his family and friends by his side at Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery on Tuesday (April 1), with graveside services officiated by Monsignor Father George Highberger and by the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Rosario may make a donation in his name to the charitable organization of their choice.
May God bless and welcome him to his kingdom. He will be greatly missed.
