SMITH, Patricia Lee (Pat)

(Maiden Name: Taylor)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, March 30, 2014 Patricia Lee (Taylor) Smith, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home peacefully to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at age 90. Her whole life was devoted to her family and her love of Jesus Christ. Mom loved her America, and was always an outspoken patriot. She was born in Los Angeles, Calif., and lived in Arcadia, Calif. Her last few years were between Arcadia and Prescott. Pat was the devoted wife of Ben F. Smith Jr. for 54 years, and their marriage was blessed with three children: Donna, Jeannine and Scott. To her joy, she was blessed in time with eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, one born just a week ago. In addition, she leaves a dear sister, Charlene. She was predeceased by her brother Ben F. Taylor of California, one year to the day before her passing. Mom was an expert seamstress, tailoring many of her own and her kids' clothes, as well as the adventure of making more than 100 choir robes at one time for the church children's choir. Mom loved collecting fabric for inspired projects. She was an avid follower of current and world events, and a lifelong student of Dr. J. Vernon Mcgee's Thru The Bible Radio. She taught Sunday School for many years. Several decades of service manning the voting polls was a task Mom took very seriously. She studied and taught us nutrition and natural remedies before it was cool, and we all remember the drive to the dairy to get raw milk. She surprised us with baby chicks, dollies with racks of home-made clothes, swim fins and trips to the Long Beach roller coaster, and a kid's ideal: baseball, swimming, playing and climbing trees. The phone was always busy in the wee hours of New Year's Eve, waking her as the family called to wish her Happy Birthday. But her main love was being Dad's wife and helper, always behind the scenes. She was a homemaker who created a refuge, and our home was always open to all. Mom was a generous giver. Christmas in our home was a warmhearted festive time. The lights, tree, decor and all-night wrapping of surprises was splendid and from her heart. A home filled with food, music, and a big welcoming fireplace drew many friends. Many thanks to Marley House who came along side to comfort the family and Mom in her last days. To God be the glory. You will be dearly missed, Mom, and we will by faith see you again in The Lord's presence. Until then, "eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, the delights that await those that love Him." Enjoy it all.
