Howard Samuel Zeimen
October 21, 1953 - March 10, 2014
Born Oct. 21, 1953, and raised in Primghar, Iowa, Howard Samuel Zeimen, age 60, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014. He was the youngest of eight children born to Leo and Iris Zeimen.
Howard took his last breath watching the sunset in his beautiful cabin in the woods in Pine, Ariz. with his wife Jaime by his side. This was Howard’s most favorite place on Earth. Howard had a great love of life, was gentle and kind, and was a very devoted husband, father and stepfather.
Howard was in grocery management for most of his life working for various chains in the Midwest. His last position was as a produce buyer for the Safeway Corporation since his arrival in Arizona in 2002. His colleagues remember him as the ray of sunshine arriving at 6 in the morning with a hearty “Good Morning everyone, it’s a beautiful day today.” He created breakfast burrito day on paydays and always had a word of wisdom for both personal and professional challenges.
Howard was married in February of 1974 to Ann Winter. They had five children; triplet sons, a daughter Toni and a son Matthew.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, his triplet sons, three brothers, Gordon, Rene and Blaine and his sister Mary.
He leaves an indelible mark in the hearts of all that knew him, and most especially with his wife Jaime, his two children Matt and his wife Bobbie Jo, Toni and her husband James, granddaughter Payton, and Jaime’s three daughters, Mia, Linnea and Daniella.
Howard is also survived by two brothers, Gregory and Dennis, as well as his sister Madeleine. Howard will be deeply missed and live in our hearts forever.
A celebration of Howard’s life will take place in Pine, Ariz. at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 29 at the Pine Community Center.
In lieu of flowers, please remember Howard by sending donations to the Arizona Border Collie Rescue (arizonaborder collierescue.com) in honor of his faithful four-legged companion, Maggie.
