WHITE, Alvin August

Vistoso Funeral Home, Oro Valley, Arizona Alvin August White August 4, 1921 - March 16, 2014 Alvin August White Was born August 4, 1921 and passed away peacefully on March 16, 2014 at his home. Alvin was born at Outlook, Mt. to George and Bessie (McCullough)White. The family later moved to Radville, Sask. where his father homesteaded. Following the death of his mother when he was only three, the family moved back to North Dakota where they lived and farmed on his grandfather’s homestead. He was reared and educated in Bottineau County while helping his father farm. He became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gardena, ND. He served in various capacities in the church and on the School Board. On August 21, 1942 Alvin married Vera Lorraine Zimmerman. Out of this union 4 children were born, Sandra, Susan, Alvin Jr., and Lonnie. Alvin and Vera farmed in the Gardena area for many years. He later worked on construction building missile sites, ran his own garage, and in 1965 he moved his family to Bellingham, WA where he worked as a Mill Wright for Intalco Aluminum Corp. until his retirement. In 1995 Alvin and Vera built a home and moved to Tucson AZ, where he lived until he passed away. Alvin lost Vera, the love of his life, in March of 2011. The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to Lonnie for all the love and tender care that Alvin and Vera received while he cared for them these past seven years. Alvin and Vera had become members of Catalina Lutheran in Catalina, AZ. Alvin was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife, his two brothers, Elliot and Clifford and his sister Norine (White) McLaughlin. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra (White) Finke and Susan (White) Monell and sons, Alvin Jr. and Lonnie White and their spouses. He also had 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. Funeral Service Saturday March 22, 2014, 11:30 am at Catalina Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial Saturday March 22, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery
