Linda Symchak
May 27, 1951 - February 19, 2014
Linda Marie Shiflett Symchak, loving wife of 42 years to Richard and companion for 44 years, will be missed by all who knew her.
Her unexpected departure leaves a void in the lives of those who loved her, as well as a deep sadness and sorrow that will linger in the hearts of all.
She enjoyed a happy life filled with laughter, cats, teapots and people who cared.
Her journey began in Baltimore, and she often reflected on memories of a happy home and childhood with her sister, Nancy, and brothers, Billy and Robby.
She joined the Air Force after high school to begin her young adult life, meeting her future husband while both were serving their country in Charleston, South Carolina. They were married in Charleston.
Following active duty, their long-lasting partnership would take them to California where their son, Jason, was born, and her professional career was begun. She graduated with a bachelor's degree from Cal Pol University and pursued a rewarding career for many years in the field of human resources.
In 1995 she found a new home with her family in Tucson where she continued her career and made many friends, leading to her retirement in 2010.
She loved Tucson sunsets, lightening displays during Monsoon season, her family and grandchildren, Sophia and Austin.
She will be remembered as best friend, wife, mother, grandmother and sister by those who shared her life.
From her husband:
DREAM OF LINDA
Long ago I dreamed about a little blonde girl,
and upon waking, knew I must find her
wherever she may be hiding in time.
Later in life I did find the little blonde girl,
and imagine my joy and delight when she
turned out to be the other half of me.
