Lillian Ruth Burns, 90, of Globe, Ariz., passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014.
She was born to George and Bertha (Dickinson) Stephens on Sept. 3, 1923, in Globe, Ariz., and the youngest of six children.
She was a graduate of Globe High School and she began her career as an accountant at age 16, for Ryan Evens Drug Store.
She later met and married the love of her life, Billy Bob Burns, and they had one child, Robert Wayne Burns. Lillian worked as an accountant for BJ Cecil Trucking, Globe-Miami Speedway, and retired from Cobre Valley Motors. She and Billy Bob also had their own successful business, Burns Well Drilling. Lillian enjoyed spending time in her cabin in Nutrioso, Ariz., getting up early to walk and pick wildflowers so there would be a new bouquet on the table every morning.
She led a remarkable life, traveling to England, Alaska, Switzerland, Japan and Hawaii, yet she always came back to Globe, her hometown. She was a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers of Gila County and a lifelong member of the Elks Club of Globe.
Lillian is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Bob.
She is survived by her son, Robert Wayne Burns of Phoenix, Ariz., grandsons, Troy W. Burns (Monica) of Globe, Ariz., Shawn W. Burns of Phoenix, Ariz., and two great-grandsons, Tristan Burns and Shawn Burns II.
