McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel, Safford, Arizona Loma Eleanor Hoopes June 2, 1931 - April 10, 2014 Ellie Loma Hoopes, 82, of Thatcher, Arizona, passed away April 10, 2014 at her home with her loving family by her side. Loma was born to Jasper Newton & Myrtle Ruth Hudson on June 2, 1931 in Gallup, New Mexico. Lona met and married, Spencer Hoopes, in November 1975 in Thatcher, Arizona. She was a member of the Golf Association, VFW Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #32. She was a homemaker who loved golf and her family. Lona loved her family with all of her being. The sun rose and set on her grandsons, their wives and her “little boys”. She loved spending summers in Colorado with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She touched everyone she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Loma is survived by her children; Terri Burke and Mike Burke of Thatcher and Tonna (Terry) Regester of Cripple Creek, CO., grandchildren; Jason (Trina) McDonald, Michael (Courtney) McDonald and Chris (Jessica) McDonald, and great-grand children; Evan, Peyton and Keagan McDonald and brother Ronnie Olds of Ft. Worth, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jasper & Myrtle Hudson, husband; Spencer Hoopes, siblings; Orvaline Olds, Ella Cook, Gilbert Hudson, Bobbie Smith and Volley Hudson. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Melissa and Mary of Mt. Graham Hospice. Services for Ellie will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
