Maurice Mark Dosela
(November 29, 1987 - April 8, 2014)
Maurice Mark Dosela, 26, White Mountain/San Carlos Apache, of Seven Mile community, Fort Apache Indian Reservation, died April 8, 2014 in Mesa. He was born Nov. 29, 1987 in Whiteriver.
He was a caring and respectful young man who adored his two young nieces, Adara Riley and Andromeda P. Sanchez. Mark had numerous relatives and friends (near and far) who knew that he was always smiling, friendly, outgoing and often telling jokes. He liked basketball, and loved anything to do with the outdoors all his life, including fishing, camping, hunting, and antler hunting. He went to Alchesay High School (Whiteriver) and had training in carpentry, electrical systems, and other types of work. He held several jobs including beginning as a laborer in carpentry, electrical work, and foreman in his trade with the latest at installing solar systems.
Mark is survived by his mother, Annette (Newhall) Johnson and stepfather Anthony Johnson, sisters, Danielle (Dosela) Sanchez, Daphne Lavender and Featherrae Wycliffe (honorary sister); brothers Peter Newhall and Jordan Lavender; half-sisters Carmen Dosela, Marlena Johnson; half-brothers Cameron Dosela, and Merle Johnson; maternal grandmother Yvonne (Riley) Newhall and paternal grandmother Althea (Johnson) Ivins; aunties on maternal side Marvene Nozie, Arlene (Pipkins) Henry, Mary Alice (Nozie) Harvey, Diane Newhall, and Yvette N. (Aubrey) Aday; maternal uncles Matthew Nozie, Timothy (Delphine) Nozie and Reynold Newhall.; paternal aunties Vonna (Dosela) Antonio, Carla J. Ivins, and Oshwa C. Ivins; godson Lydell “Chip-Chip” Nash and god-daughter Angalie Thomas.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Lee Dosela, maternal grandfather Ernest Newhall Jr., uncle Mark Nozie, and cousin Harisson Lee Dosela.
Mark was greatly loved by his immediate and extended family who are extremely saddened by his loss and devastated that he was taken too soon. Their only comfort is the belief that the Creator has returned him to a good place being greeted by the family members who have gone before him.
A one-night wake was held at his maternal grandmother, Yvonne (Riley) Newhall’s residence in Seven Mile community with return and escort of body April 14 and a rosary.
Funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Whiteriver with Father Ed Fronske officiating. Burial will follow at the Fort Apache cemetery.
Silver Creek Mortuary handled arrangements.
