Death of Pierce is Caused By Pneumonia
Respected Rancher of Walnut Grove Section Answers Final Call
James F Pierce, of the well known Pierce family, died at his home in Walnut Grove on Tuesday evening from pneumonia, after an illness of only five days.
From the beginning of his sickness but little hope was entertained for his recovery, and although medical aid was summoned from this city the day before the end came, he failed to respond to the treatment, and surrounded by many relatives and friends, the life of a splendid citizen passed to the beyond.
The deceased was popularly known throughout the southern part of the county, being the son of Mr and Mrs William Pierce, respected pioneer residents, who were summoned from Tempe, their present home. He was a farmer and rangeman, and had one of the best improved ranches in the county. Genial in fellowship, and upright in all dealings, his loss is a sad one to all.
The funeral occurred yesterday and interment was given in Walnut Grove, Rev Jenkins of this city officiating. Scores of residents of that country were in attendance. News of the death of this young man was not received in Prescott until late Wednesday, owing to the absence of telephonic or other means of communication.
