The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, April 13, 2014 Mrs. Ruth Ellen (Brown) Thompson, 88, of Keizer, Ore., died of congestive heart failure on April 2, 2014. She was born April 29, 1925, in a farmhouse near Ariba, Colo. Ruth was married on Aug. 17, 1957, to George Thompson in Larkspur, Colo. The Thompsons spent the first 25 years of retirement in Prescott, Ariz., in a custom home built by her husband George before relocating to Emerald Point Retirement Center in Keizer. Mrs. Thompson worked for the State of California in personnel for the Department of Corrections prior to retirement in 1983. Mrs. Thompson was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene in Ventura, Calif., Prescott, and most recently Salem, Ore. Ruth's passions were sewing, quilting and crafts of all kinds as well as traveling to visit friends and family. Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband George Elmer Thompson of Keizer; sons Daniel Thompson of Santa Maria, Calif., and Rex Thompson of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; daughters Nancy Rieb of West Linn, Ore., and Linda Mann of Salem, Ore.; and sister Maxine Goldsmith of Loveland, Colo. Mrs. Thompson had eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Violet Brown; brother Donald Brown; and sister Velma Rieb.
