Heritage Funeral Chapel, Peoria, Arizona Mary Virginia Fischer September 29, 1921 - April 11, 2014 Mary Virginia Fischer, 92, passed away on April 11, 2014. She was born to William and Mary Davidson in Santiago, Chile September 29, 1921. She served her country as a nurse in the U.S. Army during WWII. After a long nursing career in Missouri and Arizona, she retired from Indian Health Services as a school nurse at Shonto Boarding School on the Navajo Reservation. After retirement, she volunteered with ALS and the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board. She is survived by her son Bill Fischer and daughter Dotti Gurnick; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter. Burial will be in Hannibal, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Hospice of the Southwest, 450 N. Dobson Rd., Suite 108, Mesa, AZ 85201.
