CASILLAS, Robert (Bob) P.


Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Wednesday, April 23, 2014 Robert “Bob” P. Casillas of Chandler, Ariz. passed away on April 17, 2014. Born on March 5, 1934 to Manuel “Chito” and Dolores “Lola” Casillas in Claypool, Ariz.; Bob was the oldest of nine children. After graduating from Miami High School, he served our country in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon his return, Bob was employed by Inspiration Mining Company before deciding to open the Eastern Arizona Agency of the Franklin Life Insurance Company, Bob and Chuy’s Texaco and Bob’s PourHouse. After many years of running his own business, he then chose to serve his local community as Gila County Supervisor for District 2 for eight years. His public service also included serving on the board of the Arizona Power Authority, positions appointed by Governors Babbitt and Symington. In 1978 Bob was elected as Globe Miami Citizen of the Year. Amongst his public service, Bob delved into another business venture, creating a legacy in his mother’s name, CC Foods, INC. where he and his family created Mama Lola’s Tortilla Factory. Bob served as CEO and Marketing Director, overseeing operations throughout the state of Arizona. Bob enjoyed spending time with his dog Zeus, sporting events with his family including cheering on the Arizona Cardinals, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Arizona Wildcats. He also enjoyed spending time with his many loved nieces and nephews. He survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria Saenz Casillas; his sisters, Margaret (Art Bejarano) and Gloria (Art) Contreras; his brothers, Manny (Mary), Sal (Lanie), Ralph (Diane), Larry (Dorothy), Fred (Pam) and Chuy and Rosie Casillas. Services for Bob will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Miami, Ariz.,. with visitation starting at 9 a.m., praying of the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. and Mass beginning at 10 a.m. Internment will be at Mountain Breeze Cemetery immediately following.
