TURNER, Carol (Dawn)

(Maiden Name: Zeck)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, April 27, 2014 Carol 'Dawn' Turner Dawn, 67, lost her courageous battle with breast cancer and passed away on April 17, 2014. She was born on April 8, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Carol and Edward Zeck. Her mother and father later divorced and her mother later married Walter W. Palmer in Salt Lake City. Walt later adopted Dawn and her sister Sherry after their mother passed away. She is survived by her adoring husband Kenneth W. Turner; two wonderful sons, K. Wade Turner of Denver, Colo., and Troy D. Turner of Littleton, Colo.; sister Sherry of West Valley City, Utah, and Sherry's three daughters, Toria, Felicia and Brittney. There are also numerous siblings, nieces and nephews on Ken's side of the family. Dawn graduated from Skyline High School in 1965 in Salt Lake City, and graduated from LDS Business College, also in Salt Lake City, in 1967. Upon the latter graduation, she was employed by Western Electric Company, where she met her husband. Ken asked her for a date on a dare from co-workers. She accepted and it was love on first date. They married on June 29, 1968. Upon the birth of their first child, Wade, Dawn quit work and a couple of years later bore their second child, Troy. In 1978, she went to work for the Jordan school district in Utah until Ken's company relocated the family to Denver, Colo., in 1983. In Colorado, Dawn worked for a real estate development company from 1983 to 1986. She then was hired by a cable television company, Daniels and Associates. Through a few mergers, she stayed with the cable companies of United Artists, TCI Inc., and Liberty Media International until she retired is 2002. During 2002, Dawn and Ken had a home built in the Pinon Oaks subdivision in Prescott and moved to Prescott in October. Becoming bored with retirement, she went to work for Fry's Food as a pharmacy technician from October of 2003 until her illness forced her to retire in February of 2014. Her loves outside of her family were tennis, animals and flower gardening. She performed in all of these very well. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking contributions be made to the Yavapai Humane Society in her name. For this, please contact Susie Vigil at 445-2666, ext. 20. Also, contributions may be made to the Susan B. Komen breast cancer foundation. A celebration of Dawn's life will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the LDS Prescott Stake Center, 1101 Sandretto Drive, Prescott, Ariz. Cremation services were performed by David's Desert Chapel Funeral Home in Wickenburg, Ariz. Information provided by survivors.
