Anita Rose Jones entered heaven April 22, 2014. She was born June 25, 1939, in Howard, S.D., to Albert and Barbara Magnuson and had five older brothers and sisters.
Anita married Samuel Jones in 1955 and moved to San Manuel. They lived in Mammoth and raised their six children. In 1992, Sam retired from Magma Copper Company and Anita retired from teaching preschool for the Mammoth-San Manuel School District. They relocated to the home they had built in Lakeside.
Anita taught several years for the Show Low Head Start, and for many years taught children’s classes at Calvary Baptist Church in Show Low and First Baptist Church in Pinetop. She continued to be involved with children until late 2013, when her illness prevented her from leaving the house. Anita spent many hours at her sewing machine and meeting with her church friends to make pillows, blankets and other items needed for missionaries, as well as local organizations. She lived her life devoted to helping those in need.
Anita was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and her husband, Samuel Jones Sr.
She is survived by her six children: Charlotte Ezell of Surprise, Mary Hartline of Dewey, Barbara Jones of Phoenix, Sam Jones Jr. of Oracle, Reneé Thompson of Vernon and Nelda Golden of Pinetop.
Anita was blessed with 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at First Baptist Church in Pinetop.
