LEAKE, Joseph Allen (Joe)


The Arizona Republic - Phoenix, Ariz. February 6, 2002, Page B.7 Section: Valley & State Joseph Allen Leake, 62, passed away on February 1, 2002. Joe or "Jody" as he was known to his family and many friends, was born on September 20, 1939, to Barney and Jewel Leake of Texas City, Texas. Joe graduated from the University of Houston, in Texas and then graduated from the Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery in Missouri in 1968. He moved his family to Arizona to do his internship at Phoenix General Hospital and in 1969 began his family practice in medicine. He worked for many years as a physician until it became necessary to resign after undergoing a heart transplant in 1986. He and his family felt extremely fortunate to be the recipients of such an unselfish act of generosity from the family who donated the heart of their loved one so that Joe might live a longer life. Joe is survived by his sons, Calvert and Jasen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his brother. Visitation, Thursday, February 7, 2002, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., A. L.
