Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Sunday, May 4, 2014 - Evelyn Elaine (Stilke) Kruckenberg passed away in Lake Havasu City, May 1, 2014. She was born Oct. 23, 1930 to Gust and Hilde Stilke in Everett, Ill. Evelyn moved to Lake Havasu City sixteen years ago. She joined Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Lake Havasu City after being a member of Immannual Lutheran Church in Palatine for many years. Evelyn worked as a food service director in the restaurant business for 25 years before retiring. Her favorite pastimes included cooking, crafts, embroidering and reading. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as her beloved cat, “Krista.” Evelyn was the mother of two sons, William (Rhonda) Kruckenberg of Hawthorn Woods, Ill. and John Kruckenberg of Lake Havasu City; four daughters, Cheryl Lynn Kruckenberg, Esther (Ronald) Guenther of Roscoe, Ill., Carol (Danny) Curtiss of Island Lake, Ill. and Cindy Jacks of Lake Havasu City. She was grandmother of Charleen Curtiss, Wendi Minzler, Dale Guenther, Renee Berens, Robin Woodward, Kristofer Kruckenberg, Jamie Snethen and Jackie Kruckenberg. Evelyn also had 12 great- grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by William Kruckenberg; daughters, Cheryl Lynn and Carol, as well as her parents, brothers, and sisters. A celebration of life service will be at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, 2791 Inca Dr., Lake Havasu City, Thursday, May 8, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Beacon of Hope Hospice in Evelyn’s name.
