Johannah “Johnnie” Becker, 84, died April 27, 2014, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kan. She was born March 23, 1930, in Wichita, Kan.
Johannah graduated from Wichita North High School and then later Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. She retired from USD 308 Media Center, but the job she enjoyed the most was being a grandmother. Johannah was a member of First Congregational Church and she volunteered for Victory in the Valley.
She is survived by her son, Mark R. Becker (Penny) Hutchinson; daughters: Janet J. Bland of Tucson, Ark., and Kathryn N. Becker of Miami, Fla.; four grandsons: Gustav R. Bland and Samuel B. Bland, both of Tucson, Michael T. Becker and Dylan R. Becker, both of Hutchinson, Kan.; and great grandson Ruger Bland of Tucson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay R. Johnson and Dorris A. (Meshke) Johnson Brewer.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 12, at First Congregational Church in Hutchinson, Kan., with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. A private inurnment will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Congregational Church or Dillon Nature Center, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
