Wanda Porter age 90 yrs. young passed away May 1, 2014 in the Redlands
Care Center, Redlands, Calif. She was born Aug. 27, 1923, to Ura Martin
Oliver and Gladys Cleo (Garnett) Oliver in Boone County, Mo. She was
raised in the Monroe City, Mo. area until moving to California in 1947
and met William Dan Porter. They married Nov. 19, 1949, in Las Vegas,
Nev.
Wanda was a hairdresser in 29 Palms, Calif., until retirement, then she
took up oil painting for which she won several awards. They resided in
California until Wanda discovered Lake Havasu City in 1975. They moved
to Havasu and never looked back. She was very creative in everything she
did. She loved painting, making her BBQ sauce and especially her hand
dipped chocolate covered cherries.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Porter; granddaughter,
Kerri Wetherbee and great-grandson, Caleb Hall. She is survived by her
son, Jerry (Dalene) Morris; daughter, Janis Wetherbee; grandchildren,
Colleen (Curtis) Sanden, Bryan (Kristiana) Morris, Gary (Melinda)
Morris, Dana (Jason) Hall and Jeremy (Karen) Wetherbee; plus ten great-
grandchildren.
Arrowhead Aftercare in San Bernardino, Calif. is handling the
arrangements. A family gathering to honor Wanda will take place at a
later date.
