On April 22, 2014, Heaven needed an angel and God sent for her. Linda
Betancourt Chevalier passed away from injuries sustained in an
automotive accident.
Linda was born to Juan and Estefana Betancourt on Dec. 27, 1947, in
Douglas. While in Douglas, Linda was active in the El Divino Salvador
Methodist Church; this Christian upbringing gave her a foundation that
she built upon her entire life. Linda graduated from Douglas High School
in 1966 and moved to Wisconsin, where she met her life's love, David
Chevalier. Linda and David married on Nov. 25, 1967, in Mukwonago, Wis.
They lived in seven different cities in Wisconsin before they moved to
Kingman in 1986. St. John's United Methodist Church became an important
part of her life and was so until her passing.
In 1988, Linda went to work for Kingman Unified School District.
Students and teachers affectionately knew her as "Mrs. C." When she
retired from KUSD in 2008, she saw this as an opportunity to travel the
world and became more involved with her family, her church and her
community.
In 2010, Linda began working for Angels On Duty where her love, caring,
compassion and values had a chance to shine through.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Estefana Betancourt;
a nephew; and a sister-in-law. Linda is survived by her husband of 46
years, David; daughters, Denise (Keith) Chevalier-Huffer of Roy, Wash.,
Karen (Paul) Player of Kingman and Suzanne (Greg) Brewer of Vicenza,
Italy; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters; four
brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Linda's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at
St. John's United Methodist Church, 1730 Kino Ave. Donations can be made
to St. John's Food Pantry, Mission Team, or to any mission you support
in Linda's honor.
