Howard Charles “Buck” Beeler, 82, of Roseburg, Ore. died peacefully in
his home May 2, 2014. His passing marked the end of a long battle with
Parkinson’s.
Buck is remembered for his joyful and adventurous life. He retired as a
commander after serving in the U.S. Coast Guard for 23 years. He
traveled to both the North and South poles as well as many ports of call
in Europe and Asia. He was stationed in Oregon, Washington,
Massachusetts and California.
Upon retirement from the Coast Guard, he moved to Lake Havasu City,
where he lived for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife,
Bobbie Beeler (Fowler). He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Mardi
Beeler (Salkeld) and his sister Marcia Darland (Beeler) of Roseburg,
Ore.
He will be greatly missed by all his children, grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, extended family, shipmates and many friends.
A celebration will take place in Lake Havasu City, at a later date. In
lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Roseburg,
Wounded Warriors or the National Parkinson Foundation.
