He was last employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs for over 40 years. He served his country with the U.S. Navy receiving a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He survived by his sons, Clifton Ami, Carlon Ami, Donald Ami, Myron Ami and John Ami; daughter, Wilma Dengavi; sister, Sylvia Poleyestewa; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ami; sons, Robert Ami and Harry Ami; parents, Glenn Ami and Nettie (Poocha) Ami.
