Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona, Wednesday, May 07, 2014 Linda Kay Hall April 6, 1943 – April 24, 2014 Linda was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Allen F. and Claire Elaine Thompson Hall. The family moved to Phoenix when Linda was a small child. She attended Phoenix public schools until the family moved to Glendale, California. She earned a BS and a MS from Occidental College in Mathematics. Linda moved to New York City as one of the first waves of young wizards who wrote computer code, transforming our world into a digital schema. She continued her career in computer programing after moving to San Francisco. In the early 1990’s she paid a visit to Flagstaff and decided to return to Arizona. She became a major part of the cultural life of Flagstaff. She was a docent at and devoted patron of the Museum of Northern Arizona. She served as president of the Symphony Guild, was a strong supporter of the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra and served on its board of directors for several years. Linda wore the label “San Francisco Liberal” proudly and was events vice president of the Coconino County Democratic Party for years. She created framework for their annual Roosevelt Kennedy dinner. Linda Loved renaissance and baroque music and played with a recorder group every Monday night. She collected, studied, and admired the art of the Native Americans of the Colorado Plateau. She was a guide for the Roads Scholar organization and introduced hundreds of tourists to the glories of the southwest, the Grand Canyon region and its native people. She left behind a brother, Alan (Patricia), niece Cyndy (Dominic), nephew Robert, two grandnieces, one grandnephew and scores of friends who will miss her greatly. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send a donation to the Museum of Northern Arizona or the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra. There will be a celebration of like for her in late June.
