CAVANAUGH, Clancy Thomas


Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, Arizona, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 Clancy Thomas Cavanaugh, 58, passed away on May 6, 2014. He was born Oct. 25, 1955 in Fresno, Calif. to Joanne and Wade Cavanaugh and was baptized into the Catholic Church. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Church in Brenham. As a child, he was an altar boy at Holy Angels Church, Globe, Ariz. and graduated from Globe High School in 1974. Clancy strived for perfection in every aspect of his life and stood by his motto, “if you’re going to do anything, you better do your best.” Clancy’s career began with Global Marine at the young age of 19 and continued for 40 years during which he earned great success and respect. He continued working with the company through its transition to Global Santa Fe and finally Transocean. Outside of work, he was a loving husband and father; a loyal and generous caretaker to all of his family; a brave and admirable brother and a son that every mother would be proud to call her own. Clancy is survived by his wife, Amie and daughter, Sophia of Brenham, Texas; son, Daniel of Brooklyn, N.Y.; mother, Joanne Barry of Globe, Ariz.; sisters, Colleen (Jerry) DeRose of Globe, Ariz.; Kathy Kinder of Globe, Ariz.; Patrice (Jerry) Goodman of Mesa, Ariz.; Molly (Jonathan) Hegwood of Petal, Miss.; and brother, Tim Cavanaugh of Pearl City, Hawaii; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Clancy was preceded in death by his father, Wade Cavanaugh; stepfather, Vince Barry; and brother, David Cavanaugh. Clancy and his family offer their sincerest gratitude to the many people who helped Clancy in his final days: friends John and Beth Deans, Gus Pennison, brother-in-law Anthony Barreras; Pamela Chien, PAC and all of the staff from M.D. Anderson; Pastor Fenton of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church; and many other friends and family who helped throughout this most trying time. A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas. A celebration of life will be held afterward
