Norvel Owens Mortuary, Flagstaff, Arizona JoAnn Tewa (March 24, 1954 - May 13, 2014) JoAnn Tewa (Little), 60, passed away on May 13, 2014 in Mesa, Arizona with family and loved ones by her side while she courageously battled her terminal illness. JoAnn was born in Tuba City, Arizona on March 24, 1954 to Carma Lane and Eddie Little. She spent her early childhood in Phoenix, Arizona and then moved to Flagstaff. She is a 1972 graduate of Flagstaff High School. Upon completion of graduation she married Mr. Richard Tewa Jr. and began a family. She found joy in working in the restaurant industry as a waitress at various Flagstaff restaurants, including the Hong Kong Café, Afton House and the Weatherford Café. She relocated to The Valley of the Sun in 1998 where she lived out her life. Her life- long waitress occupation allowed her the opportunity to meet many people and exposed her outgoing personality. Family and friends remember her most for her love of sewing and quilting, gardening, cooking and her understanding nature. JoAnn brought love, laughter and happiness to all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed. JoAnn is survived by her partner Michael Larimer of Mesa, Az; her daughters, Sherry L. Tewa of Flagstaff and Christina M. Tewa of Albuquerque, NM; a granddaughter, Averie N. Tewa-Crank; a grandson, Tracy A. Yazzie; sister, Pauline Begay; brothers Paul Little, Eugene Begay and Clarence “Jim” Begay (Connie); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Craig Little-Bonnaha; her sister, Janice Carroll (Little); her mother, Carma Begay (Lane) and adoptive parents Jim and Verla Ritchie. Funeral services will be held at Norvel Owens Mortuary on Friday, May 16th at 10am, in Flagstaff. Interment will conclude services at Citizens Cemetery.
