Lillie J. Curley, 81, of Teesto passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Mon. May 14, 2014 in Flagstaff, AZ.
Lillie was born at home in Ramah, NM to John and Florence Pino. She grew up herding sheep and daily chores of living on the Reservation. She completed an 11th grade education in Ramah and then became an interpreter for the missionaries who came to the area. This provided her with the opportunity to travel with the missionaries to east coast and back. It was during this time she met her husband. She was married to Rev. Joseph H. Curley who preceded her in death in 2008. Together they ministered and pastored through the church of the Nazareen on the reservation. She continued ministering through bible studies, visiting local churches and communities.
Survived by her children; Syliva (Hassan) Shahjamali, Josephine (Richard) Mendez, Debra, Mike (Felicia), Cynthia, Joy, Nate and Myrin Curley; 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren on the way. Brothers, Danny, Edgar, Leo Pino, Bob, Roy, Pete Martine; sisters, Cora, Faye, Isabelle, Lelia Pino and Olive Nicoll, Nancy Martine Alonzo.
Preceded in death by her husband Rev Joseph H. Curley; parents, John and Florence Pino, Step -Father Sheppie Martine; sisters, Rose, Grace and Gloria; brothers, Dempsey and Joseph.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 15, 10:00 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Winslow, 205 W. Lee St.
Interment to follow at Desert View Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Greer’s Mortuary Chapel on Wed. May 14, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
