YOUNG, Billy G. (Bill)


The Payson Roundup, Payson, Arizona, Saturday, May 17, 2014 Billy G. Young U.S. Veteran July 4, 1922 - May 9, 2014 Billy G. Young went to be with his lord on May 9, 2014. He was born July 4, 1922 in Detroit, Mich. to William and Jesse Young. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the 58th Bomb Wing of the 20th Air Force in the China-Burma-India Arena as a Technical Staff Sergeant and Gunner on the B17, B25 and B29 planes. On Aug. 24, 1945, he married Lucile A. Hamilton who preceded him in death in 2010. They lived in Plymouth, Mich. most of their married lives and retired to Payson in 1984. Bill was active in the community working with various organizations and the local VFW. He was also a driver for the Veterans Administration, driving patients to and from their appointments in Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Elaine Frederick and stepsister, Marian Steele; and grandson, Benjamin Young. Bill and Lucile raised four children who are survivors: Nancy (Richard) Aseltine of Saline, Mich.; Susan (Donald) Brodowicz of Munith, Mich.; Charles (Terrie) Young of Cedaredge, Colo.; and Michael (Carol Walker) Young of Berlin, N.H. He is also survived by grandchildren: Stefani, Jeffrey, Adam, Ryan, Nyla and Amanda; along with great-grandchildren, Kyle, Atris, and Titus; his sister, Marie Teeple and stepsister, Virginia Foxworthy. A memorial service will be held at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church at 11 a.m., Friday, May 23, 2014 and a brief service at the VA Cemetery in Prescott at 3 p.m. Donations in Mr. Young’s name may be made to the Rim Country Hospice Foundation, P.O.
