WENTHE, Dorothy (Dot)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona, Sunday, May 18, 2014 Dorothy (Dot) Wenthe was born June 10, 1933, in New York City, N.Y., to Edwin and June Jones. She passed away May 12, 2014. Dot lived on the east coast during the 1930s, moving to Salinas, Calif., through most of the '40s, then to Peoria, Ill., where she graduated from high school in 1951. She received her BA from Illinois State Normal University in 1955 and taught physical education for several years in Illinois. In 1958, she moved to Tempe, Ariz., and procured a master's degree in education at ASU. Dot was active with real estate in the Prescott, Ariz., area. Dot met Hal Wenthe while in Tempe and they were married in Peoria, Ill., in June of 1960. She was preceded in death by Hal on March 28, 2014, and her sons, Keith and Todd. She is survived by her brother, Richard Jones of Godfrey, Ill.; sister Kathryn Nelson of Sun City, Ariz.; nieces and nephews. A celebration of Hal and Dot's lives will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Adult Center of Prescott, 1280 E. Rosser St., Prescott, Ariz. Information provided by survivors.
