Prescott Evening Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, January 2, 1940, page 2, column 1 State Pioneers Stricken Here John Bauer, a resident of Prescott since boyhood, succumbed to a heart attack at the Pioneer's Home this morning at the age of 59. The son of one of the pioneer bandmasters of old Fort Whipple and a boyhood friend of Mayor Feorello La Guardia, of New York City. Mr. Baer had, during recent months, been an employee at the Home. He was born in Colorado April 18, 1880 and came to Prescott with his parents during his early youth. Among survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Helen Tuft, a Phoenix; a nephew, Carl Lambertine, of Prescott; three nieces and a granddaughter. Funeral arrangements, in charge of Lester Ruffner Funeral Home, had not been completed this afternoon. Rights will be conducted in Prescott and interment will be in a local cemetery, according to tentative arrangements.
