KLOOS, Richard (Dick)


Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory, Wickenburg, Arizona Richard "Dick" Kloos November 24, 1924 - May 19, 2014 Richard "Dick" Kloos, age 89, passed away May 19, 2014 in Sun City West, Arizona. Dick was born November 24, 1924 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to George & Leora Kloos. He was raised and attended schools there and later enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in the 17th Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He received a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts during his service. He returned home and attended and graduated from LaSalle University in Pennsylvania. Dick met and married Lois Stout in 1953 making their home in Philadelphia also living in Chicago, Massachussets and New York. His career was Heavy Equipment manufacturing as a purchasing agent and later plant manager with Eaton Corporation. After retiring he and Lois came to Arizona settling in Wickenburg. Dick was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and served with St. Vicent de Paul Society. Dick enjoyed the outdoors especially bird watching and was often seen with his binoculars. He was an avid gardener and attended Mass daily. He was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy and Marion. He is survived by his wife Lois of Wickenburg and daughters Janet Kloos of Bothell, Washington and Barbara (Robert) Griffin of Lynden, Washington and a son David Kloos of New York, Grandchildren: Erin Zavala, Dane Griffin and Zach Kloos and great-grandchildren: Estevan Soto, Angel Zavala, Javier Zavala, Cruz Zavala, Aviv Griffin, Berlin Griffin and Carys Griffin. Funeral Mass and military honors will be said on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Rosary just prior at 9:30 AM at the Church. The Family suggests memorial contributions in Dick's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation Greater Phoenix Chapter at 1028 E. McDowell Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85006 or alzfdn.org
