DEMASE, Rocco (Rocky)


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Posted: Thursday, May 22, 2014 - Rocco “Rocky” Herman DeMase, 90, passed away May 14, 2014 in Lake Havasu City. He was born May 12, 1924 in Pennsylvania to Sam and Bessie (Dececco) DeMase. Rocky, as he was known to his family and friends, served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Rocky and his family visited Lake Havasu often in the 1950s and moved here in 1964 when the population was 200. He opened up Havasu Jewelers in Arnold’s Plaza and was the first watchmaker/jeweler in town as well as selling small electronics and other goods. Wearing a red jacket and driving a white Jeep Wagoneer, Rocky also sold lots here as one of the first Holly sales agents. He was also a founding charter member of the Elks Lodge and rose through the ranks in leadership. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81 and the BPOE Elks Lodge 2399. Rocky was loved and will be missed. Rocky is survived by his children, Steve (Wendy) O’Neil, Patricia Thomas and Richard Lynch; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, two nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Inga; second wife, Norma; brother, William; sisters, Eva and Josephine and a grandson, Matthew.
