Joseph Edward Gatineau, born Oct. 2, 1944, was called to be with our
Lord on May 18, 2014, at the age of 69.
Joe was born in Putnam, Conn., where he resided until the age of 12 when
he moved to Kingman. Joe attended Kingman High School prior to enlisting
in the U.S. Navy, where he served his country during the Cuban missile
crisis and in Vietnam.
Joe and his wife, Susie, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this
past November. Joe and Susie have called Kingman home for more than 50
years and have had successful careers, raised three children and made
many lifelong friends. Joe worked for the United States Postal Service
for 40 years and was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the USS
Colonial LSD.
Joe was a selfless, loving man who has touched many lives; he will be
greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Joe is survived by his wife, Susie Gatineau; three children, Tammy
Gatineau (David Rothstein) of New Jersey, Shawna Searles (Roger) of
Kingman and Joseph Gatineau Jr. of Kingman; four grandchildren, Ryan
Edelson, Joshua Searles, Savannah Searles and Ashton Gatineau; and three
brothers, Gerard Gatineau of Arizona, Gary Koblitz of Virginia and
Richard Aucoin of Michigan.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Sutton
Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave. A celebration of life will
follow the service at the Eagles Lodge FOE, 4536 N. Patsy Dr. Please
bring your favorite dish to share.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the
Kingman Cancer Care Unit, P.O. Box 3014, Kingman, AZ 86402 in Joseph
Gatineau's name.
