SAMSON, Ken


Kingman Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on May 21, 2014 - Ken Samson was born to Hazel and Ken Samson in Sheridan, Wyo., on Dec. 11, 1938. Ken proudly served his country with distinction, honor and unwavering patriotism. Ken served six years in the U.S. Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, a Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Vietnam Gallantry Badge, Cross with Palm Unit Citation Badge, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), Sharpshooter and First Class Gunner. In civilian life, Ken continued his patriotism by being a life member of the VFW 3516. He served as post commander numerous times during his 50 years in the VFW. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents; his younger brother, Bob Samson; and oldest child, Kaerene Samson. Ken is survived by his adoring wife, Denise, of 34 years; his sister, Norma Force of Wyoming; his six children, Kenny Samson of South Dakota, Tonya Peidmonte of South Carolina, Steve Samson, Shannon Samson and Kendra Samson of Kingman, and Shane Samson of Oklahoma. Ken was grandpa to 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Ken was a true American cowboy, whose heroes were his family. To his family, he was the hero. "Without our veterans' service, there would be no America." A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at VFW Post 3516 for friends and family.
